Tuerca.cl was founded in July 2001 to promote and support the rescue and conservation of our heritage on wheels, providing national enthusiasts of classic and vintage vehicles with a meeting place to exchange information, data, anecdotes, and share experiences and knowledge through articles, photographs, and information on restoration and related historical topics. As a result of an attractive mix of vintage vehicles, retro graphics, and melodies evoking the 1950s, Tuerca.cl has transcended the virtual world, organizing a variety of events and caravans in conjunction with institutions such as the Chilean National Monuments Council and the Military School; the municipalities of Las Condes, Providencia, Talagante, Quinta Normal, Lo Barnechea, the Paseo Quilín Mall, and Movicenter, with an ever-increasing capacity and extensive press coverage. Of particular note is the activity called "Heritage on Wheels," held annually since 2003 (and since 2006 at the Military School) as part of Chile's Cultural Heritage Day (the last Sunday in May). It has become the largest and most anticipated gathering of vintage vehicles in the country. In 2020, the "black year" due to the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, Tuerca.cl and La Gaceta de Los Clásicos organized a "Grand Virtual Classics Gathering" between May and June, with the participation of more than 400 vintage vehicles from Arica to Punta Arenas. It is also worth noting that the experience of Tuerca.cl has given rise, since 2006, to a print magazine called La Gaceta de los Clásicos, the only one of its kind in the country, which has already published 14 issues.
