Classic car events organized by Casa María Goretti Queretaro
Most of our girls come to live at Casa María Goretti because their parents have lost custody due to neglect, physical and/or sexual abuse, leaving them at risk or completely abandoned. Restoring their rights and restoring their dignity is a priority for us, so from the moment they arrive at the home, we dedicate ourselves to seeking their well-being. How do we do it?Through three key programs: Home: Ensure the infrastructure and services of decent housing, and create a healthy environment where the girls can develop life skills. Training: This consists of providing our girls with formal education, as well as a series of workshops and activities that help them enhance their physical and cognitive abilities and develop skills that pave the way for self-management. Health: This consists of addressing any needs arising from their disability or from the life they led prior to arriving at the home; addressing any new illnesses and promoting a healthy lifestyle. Who cares for the girls? All care and training are provided by nuns of the Daughters of Jesus the Good Shepherd, who are certified as home caregivers under the E0934 Labor Competency Standard. In addition, they receive ongoing training on disability and human rights issues, among others. What do we hope to achieve?Everything we do has the ultimate goal of empowering these women, making them as independent as possible (although they may still require support systems), and contributing to the possibility of their social inclusion. |
